We work hard to create environments which have as many opportunities to explore and learn as possible. However there are always limits to what we can achieve within the boundaries of our settings so sometimes this is best served outside of the nursery setting by means of spontaneous trips and our planned programs of outings.
To do this we have made a substantial investment in transport in the form of our own minibuses, we also have a range of buggies and “turtle buses” so that we can get out and about.
Typical outings are a trip to the Beach, the library, the shops, the park, to name but a few; we also have a relationship with a local care home. At every opportunity children are encouraged to embrace their local community to gain an understanding of the world around them, which in turn builds their confidence and stimulates their desire to learn.
We also run Forest School activities which provide children the opportunity to experience freedom and wonder in the outdoor environment. We recognise that some children engage best in an outdoor learning environment. Confidence and emotional intelligence are an important basis for personal development. These attributes are nurtured in a natural learning environment where children are given appropriate responsibilities. We also aim to build an awareness and respect of nature and living things.
All of our outings and trips are optional so please do not worry if you do not wish to consent to them. For logistical reasons some of our trips will be conducted during fixed times during the day. All new families are made aware of our outing policies during the families’ nursery induction.
